Redefining the lazy tendency to use such words as "sprawling," this set features 128 tracks spread across 200+ minutes, with material dating from 1979 through 1996, with a heavy emphasis on the group's golden Arizona age in the mid '80s. Features various plunderings from the group's vast cassette vaults, not previously available LP material. Brief guest appearances from Eddy Detroit, Eyvind Kang, The Ruins and others are included, but the majority of this material focuses on the trio of Alan Bishop, Rick Bishop, and Charlie Gocher, recorded live, barely-alive, and in the streets of Bangkok, Java, Morocco, Sumatra, Cairo, Bali, and Multnomah Falls, OR. Every aspect of the Sun City Girl's palette is splattered about, from shredding improv mania, eastern-tinged balladeering, plundering trance rock, purely tweaked free "performance," and even the occasional lapse into Greg Turkington adulation (acceptable in this context due to the short-edit juxtaposition). The cryptic skin-flashing laughter that tends to emit from the charred but still-mellow lips of Alan Bishop will never quite leave your head after submitting to this experience -- what an exhausting and illuminating set!
